Publisher's Synopsis
Meet David. He isn't an ordinary man. Far from it. He isn't even a human being, although he was previously. Furthermore, he doesn't reside on Earth. Well, at least not presently. Coming straight from the paradise of Heaven, please meet fifteen-year-old Olivia Smirk's spirit guide. Overweight, unpopular, zero confidence. This pretty much describes who David watches over every single moment of her life. So, is it tough being a spirit guide? I'll answer that by saying - Strap yourself in! The ride of a lifetime awaits...It all starts with a simple phone call. Olivia's friend is going to be late. She will meet her at the mall two hours from now. No big deal, right? Wrong! This minor change of plans will end up altering her life forever. In a mere two hours, she'll be clinging to life and her parents will both be dead. As if that isn't devastating enough, Olivia will soon come to find out who will be her legal guardians. At your own risk, meet Auntie Sandra. "Olivia Gertrude Smirks!" shrieks the voice that only screams from the bottom of an endless winding stairway. "You need to get your big butt down here!" And now, meet Auntie Suzette. The other one who never speaks, only shouts. Lowering her enormous body onto the couch to elevate two bad feet, she watches Olivia walk down the stairs. "Why is our dead brother's kid dressed like a whatchamacall hooker?" she asks her sister. Aaahh yes, the aunties. Olivia's guardians for better or worse. Unfortunately, in this case it's pretty much worse. Even a total stranger would swear they emerged from a time capsule with their stubborn minds refusing to accept computers, cell phones, or any type of mobile device. Silently, Olivia nicknamed them the prehistoric baboons. It's no big surprise neither ever married and choose to live together. They seem to be the only ones who can put up with each other. There is one bright spot, however. The aunties old Victorian sits right across the street from Francis Franson Funeral Home. You see, Olivia's sophisticated nineteen year old cousin, Mandy, is married to forty year old Francis. The aunties find fault with the age difference and, well, Francis in general. Commonly, he's referred to as corpse director and jackass. Regretfully, the close living proximity does nothing to help Olivia's phobia of seeing dead bodies. This brings me to the subject of life charts. David will explain how everything is predestined with a little wiggle room left for FREE CHOICE. He will further explain how Earth is nothing but a school in which to learn lessons. Heaven is your true home. Problems arise when an individual writes a chart that is very challenging. This usually results in suicide - an act Heaven specifically forbids. David sees warning signs Olivia is heading down this path and feels the need to intervene. Summoning the Creator's Representatives in Heaven's courthouse, these high beings grant Olivia permission to astral travel and remember her experiences. They assume visiting paradise should significantly reduce her risk of suicide."Being a spirit guide is no easy job!" This is an echoing statement made by David. He sees Olivia through it all - grieving her parents, living with the aunties, first dead body, first seance, first date, first heartache, astral travel to Heaven, getting pregnant, and struggling to raise twins. His unconditional love and devotion are evident throughout all these situations, concluding with the ultimate act he tried so very hard to avoid. Writing this novel was very rewarding to me. I have always been highly intuitive and am constantly working to strengthen my gifts. I have come to realize that my master spirit guide is, indeed, David. Much of the subject matter consists of my personal dreams and experiences. I dedicate this book to David, along with my father, Henry J Voytush in spirit. They refused to let this project go and provided me with inspiration from across the
