Publisher's Synopsis

This photocopiable Teacher's Resource Book meets two important needs:

- it provides tried and tested strategies for teaching Ethics at Advanced level. Ethics is now a core component of many A level and GNVQ specifications, most notably Advanced level Religious Studies and Philosophy

- it enhances the teaching of values and moral issues within the statutory Citizenship/PSHE curriculum, and within RE at Key Stage 4 or post-16.

Exploring Ethics starts with a short course designed to introduce the teacher to the key concepts of Ethics. This same material can also be used as a photocopiable introduction to Ethics for the A or AS level student.

This section is followed by 16 thoroughly tried and tested 'ethical games' - simulations, role plays and decision-making exercises - that develop:

- thinking about values and moral decision making

- critical thinking about ethical concepts

- mental maps of moral philosophy

- notions of citizenship and community and their role in society.

Each activity introduces one key ethical concept and enables students to discover for themselves the issues and problems that arise from thinking about values.
