Publisher's Synopsis
This collection of 22 laboratories, written for the Turbo Pascal 6.0 environment using IBM PC's, encourages exploration and critical thinking in computing and puts students in the role of experimenters who must consider and apply conceptual issues. Adopting the model of structured laboratories used successfully in other sciences, the authors provide a wide range of activities focusing on both programming issues and general computer science topics. Each laboratory is divided into three sections: pre-lab preparation, in-lab activities (structured tasks designed to take 30 to 60 minutes), and post-lab assessment (for student summary via a Laboratory Report). This lab manual can be used in conjunction with any text for the introduction to computer science and programming course taken by all computer science students. (Each chapter is organized as follows: Laboratory Background; Laboratory Activities, which are listed below; and Projects.)
