Publisher's Synopsis
Ten prisoners being prepared for transfer from the large planetary penal colony (BASTILLE 3) suddenly find themselves in charge of the shuttle when security protocols lock them out of the colony due to a full scale riot. Taking the opportunity, they hijack the shuttle, killing the pilot and co-pilot. Their transfer becomes an escape and a bid for freedom. Taylor is one of the prisoners but unlike the rest he was supposed to be heading for his freedom. After serving five years wrongful imprisonment his only thoughts, revenge and that of seeing his wife once more. So close to freedom, now he must put his lot in with the escapees if he is to survive. After hijacking the shuttle they realise it does not have the fuel for a long range escape and if they want to get to somewhere the Space Justice Federation cannot find them they will need to find a safe haven to refuel or find another transport. The science research station THE BORROWDALE becomes that safe haven. Manned by a small human crew supported by an android maintenance team. Hard core prisoners against scientists and a few maintenance drones, their choice and Taylor's became clear. The escapee prisoners are suspicious when greeted by HANK, a strangely dressed android who informs them he will be happy to re charge their fuel cells and gift them with any supplies they will require to continue their journey. Hank seems too friendly. Taylor, due to his piloting skills ends up the unofficial leader and realises that something is very wrong when several of the men go missing, they stumble across a decomposing body in one of the stations labs, hear unusual communication between Hank on The Borrowdale and the Federation and they can find no other signs of life, human or andriod. They understand why there is no one else on the ship when the men end up fighting for their lives as Hank uses them as characters to re-enact macabre scenes from long forgotten horror movies he has been watching on the holoscreen. The escapee prisoners must keep one step ahead of Hank, the defective, psychopathic android with holographic, shape shifting abilities intent on carrying out every sick and twisted death he has watched. The prisoners and Taylor's freedom turns into a battle of survival as they try to outwit and outmaneuver Hank.
