Publisher's Synopsis
The psalmist declares, 'The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad' (Ps. 118:24). Yet what has the Lord done?
In a consumerist society, thanks are all too often associated with an exchange of services or goods. I am grateful for what I receive.
However, for the Christian, thanks are not associated with some tangible commodity. They are consistent recognition that we can enjoy the presence of God anytime and everywhere because of the remarkable work of Jesus upon the cross.
Over the next two months, we shall explore how and why we give thanks to God; we shall seek to learn to follow Paul's encouragement to, 'Rejoice in the Lord always.' Of course, Paul recognised how challenging this can be so he adds, 'I will say it again, rejoice.' (Phil. 4:4).
