We have all stumbled upon stupidity at some point and adopted behaviors that, in hindsight, do not seem sensible at all. Sometimes it is even an excess of reason that makes us stupid, when for example we persist in defending our ideas even if they fail, confusing determination with stubbornness and tenacity with closed-mindedness. Blinded by ephemeral successes, instead of correcting these attitudes, we repeat them with total conviction and end up turning occasional manifestations of imbecility into a permanent character trait.
