Theodore G. Storey has specialized in forest fire research since shortly after joining the Forest Service at Berkeley, Calif, in 1949. In 1955 he transferred to the Southeastern Station, Asheville, nc. He worked at the Forest Fire Laboratory in Macon, Ga., for 3 years before returning to the Pacific Southwest Station in 1962. The field work for the study reported in this paper was done while he was at the Macon laboratory. Storey is a forestry graduate of the University of California Since 1963 he has been assigned to the Pacific Southwest Station's Forest Fire Laboratory at Riverside, Calif.
