Publisher's Synopsis
This volume is a philosophical exploration of a stream of consciousness concerning everyday life and the building of meaning. The author, a psychiatrist, has been influenced by a variety of traditions such as spiritual healing of psychic pain, religious practices, transcendental reflections, and Eastern meditation. "Essentials of Love of Life" offers a symbolic structure, the Cube, as the embodiment of perfect balance. Love of life, the essence that drives motivation, pleasure, and the wish to survive, is presented as an internal living core maintained by eight forces, the corners within the Cube. The poetic imagery is interspersed with brief stories of life and emotions. It was inspired by the traditions of the Torah and both Eastern and Western philosophy, which use words to convey insights to life.
