Meeting the educational needs of students is a challenge facing educators, parents, and community members. With increased demands in education, a vastly changing and diverse student body; the challenge becomes greater. As the Individuals with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Common Core State Standards continue to guide educational procedures and ensure accountability, public schools are charged with providing increased inclusive opportunities in general education classrooms for all students as the first placement choice not simply as a reward for doing well or a trial basis to determine if a student can make it in general education.
