Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Erythea, Vol. 4: A Journal of Botany, West American and General; Berkeley, California, 1896

The following thirty-two species of new fungi, with the exception of the first one on the list, were found by the junior author in Books County, Kansas, and the fact that he has found 130 additional new species in the same locality, leads to the conclusion that this region, which is situated midway between the Missouri River on the east and the Rocky Mountains on the west, at an altitude of 2000 feet above the sea, is unusually rich in many species, apparently rare, or not indigenous to other parts of the country.
