Subject Alpha was the first gene-splice created to protect humanity from the monstrous beings known as rakshasa. After escaping from the facility in which she was made, the Guardian captain Eric Honora finds and adopts her. Several years later, and now known as Aeronwen Honora, she never intended to step into the role for which she was made.
