Much progress has been made during the interval in the study of english-german literary rela tions. The accession to the bibliography of over four hundred new items will give some idea of the activity of the investigators during the' last two decades. New connections have been established and statements, formerly accepted as facts, have required reexamination, reformulation, or retraction.
