He published his collections of English tales: English Fairy Tales in 1890 and More English Tales in 1894, but he was also inspired after and in between the two books to publish tales collected from continental Europe, as well as fairy tales, which made him in one of the most popular writers of Jewish, Celtic and Indian tales for the English language
