Buildings use about half the energy consumed by industrialised countries. Energy efficiency is therefore no longer an optional extra in building design. Both owners and developers are now aware of the significant cost savings that can be made in the running and maintenance of buildings through good energy design, and there is also a growing awareness of the environmental pressures to save energy.
