While the work of this Bureau is primarily in the field of veterinary medicine, it is impossible entirely to avoid references to diseases which affect man. This is particularly the case with the animal parasites. Not only is it impossible to draw a sharp line between the parasites of man and those of the domesticated and wild animals, since the organisms in question are in many cases transmissible from one to the other, but as this is the only service in the Government which supports a labora tory devoted to a study of medical and veterinary zoology, we are constantly being called upon by the physicians of the country, the State boards of health, and the various departments, of the Government for information or cooperation in this field of science.
