Publisher's Synopsis
"Eleven Hearts / Once Corazones" is a collection of poetry that represents 11 American values that were revived after the attacks of September 11, 2001 and that serve as a homage to the victims. The terrorist attack on New York's Twin Towers, a preeminent symbol of the United States' power and values, causes every American to be filled with sadness and confusion. The tragedy, however, resurfaced the values that have been always imprinted on American souls but that the majority of the population has forgotten. The eleven hearts refer to the following 11 values: freedom, strength, divinity, forgiveness, eternity, power, hope, nobleness, peace, love, and dreams. These values, the "eleven hearts," are reborn and will be eternally present in America, as a homage to those who died and to all those who continue to live. This book provides an emotional, yet fresh and positive perspective on the events of 9/11 -a perspective that can be used as a kind of salve in the country's ongoing process of recovery and reinvention. This collection would be interesting to New Yorkers and non-New Yorkers alike, as well as to foreign residents of the United States who love this country, and like the author, felt compassion for the affected people in the wake of the attacks. That is the main reason why this book is written in the two main languages spoken in this country: English and Spanish.
