Excerpt from Elements of Psychology
This book has been prepared in response to a request from a number of teachers of psychology in the universities who suggested that the expense and length of my Haml book of Psychology precluded its use as the text in their courses of instruction. I have, accordingly, aimed to make a book which shall present the newest essentials of the science in a single compact volume at reasonable cost. It difiers from my larger work mainly in its omissions. I have endeavored, however, to simplify the exposition throughout, often rewriting whole sections or recasting whole chapters with this in view, and adding more illustra tive facts and explanations.
