Publisher's Synopsis

Esteban De La Rosa was a happy child from a loving household. He enjoyed watching luchador videos with his father, an activity that his mother simultaneously adored and disdained. She loved to see her two favorite people wrestle and laugh, but something inside of her couldn't stand to see her son embrace any type of violence. It reminded her of what would always be lurking just outside of their loving household: Muerte. Violencia. She always knew that one day the darkness that her and her husband had managed to escape would find them and one day it did. Esteban came home from school one day to find his parents murdered and his home ransacked. All of the comfort and love that he had come to know in life was destroyed. The boy found himself with a choice to make. Would he accept his life as an orphan or get revenge for his parents? The answer came easily, but Esteban knew that the journey from normal American adolescent to a vengeance fueled killer wouldn't be easy. So, like the cold-blooded being he would become, he shed his skin and prepared himself to be immersed in the same dark under-world that stole his parents from him. To find his revenge he would have to forget who he was, where he came from, and the warmness of human emotion. In order to have any chance of surviving the world of the cartels, he would have to be smart, violent, and cunning. He would have to become El Frio.
