Se desempeñan como codirectores del U.C. Davis Coffee Center, que realiza investigación de vanguardia y educación avanzada centrada en el café. Su clase de educación continua, "El diseño del café", se desarrolló por primera vez en 2012 y ahora se enseña a miles de estudiantes por año.Acerca del traductor: Alejandro Molina es profesor de Ingeniería química en la Facultad de Minas de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia - Sede Medellín. Descubrió de la existencia del curso "El diseño del café" escuchando un podcast de NPR radio en el 2016. Desde entonces, junto con los profesores Darío Gallego y Adriana Ruiz, ha usado el libro como texto guía para el curso de Introducción a la Ingeniería Química. Tiene la fortuna de vivir en medio de una de las regiones cafeteras de Colombia donde su abuelo cultivó café por muchos años. En la actualidad trilla, tuesta y prepara su propia taza de café.
