Publisher's Synopsis
Idiopathic sudden hypoacusis is a frequent otorhinolaryngological emergency, of unknown etiology and pathogenesis; for its rescue treatment, corticosteroids are the most accepted drugs; however, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which is intended to contribute to the delivery of positive pressure to the inner ear vasculature and oxygen to the tissues, has been implemented as an adjuvant therapy to intratympanic steroid application or as an isolated rescue therapy.
