Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Effect of Grades and Weights on Cottonseed Margins of Cooperative Gins

These findings, in general, have been recognized by the ginning and crushing industry, if not by the cotton farmer. Very little information, however, has been available regarding the extent of their importance.

This study was made to supply such information as well as to better deter mine actual gin margins on seed.

Ginners commonly determine the price they pay farmers for cottonseed by deducting a given amount per ton from prevailing prices for seed at nearby oil mills. The spread between these prices is usually considered sufficient to cover costs and allow a reasonable profit.
