Publisher's Synopsis
Earth is in ruins. World War Five saw to that. Andrew, a sixteen year old boy, struggles to survive in the decaying remains of the city he calls home. As if the harsh conditions resulting from the war are not bad enough, he finds himself being chased by a group of sinister men, who will stop at nothing to catch him. He fears the men have been responsible for the disappearance of many families since the war's conclusion, a fate he does not wish to share. Once in his pursuers' clutches, Andrew is separated from his parents and taken to a mysterious facility called The Waypoint, where he is tested, observed, and made to compete against others who were captured along with him. The people in charge, a ruthless man and woman, are in search of the right candidates to help carry out their plan, which is riddled with secrets and sends Andrew on a dangerous journey from which there might be no return.
