Prize-winning poet and translator David Constantine's 'Head of a Kore in a Marble Mine on Paros' inspired by Greek mythology is a delicate lyric with unfathomable meaning. Tony Flynn's 'The Mermaid Chair' looks at love from another mythical perspective to create an intriguing historical tableau. Another highlight must be the famous poet, storyteller and crime writer Joolz Denby's autobiography the Invisible Child. Part One is published in issue 14 with Part Two appearing in issue 15. With cutting humour, insight and sorrow the performing star tells of her childhood struggle for parental acceptance and love. There are many kinds of love, some end in joy, some in despair, Dream Catcher issue 14 takes a glimpse at them In an excellent interview David Constantine reveals his love of poetry and how memory and imagination work together in his writing to realise his 'sureness of voice' and attractive mystical quality. In another interview the veteran poetry performer Milner Place explores his own love the artform, in particular the long poem. He outlines his efforts and tests writing in the longer form. His poem, 'Man in Armchair Waiting' shows that the love's joys and regrets are with us to our last convalescence. 'Bonds' by Ann Brechin describes the physicality of love and Kathryn Daszkiewicz's sequence 'Fenland Bride' gives us a taste of the bitterness of an empty marriage. The story 'Their Little Secret' by Tim Love reveals the depths of faith or illusion love can generate, while Wayne Dean-Richards' 'The Occupier' is a long short story about a youth's desperate battle with his environment which concludes with his finding of love in its most unbelievable form. Ian Emberson's artwork is another highlight of the issue. Through five black-and-white drawings he portrays his skill producing excellent images to complement the writing. The issue contains reviews of the epic poems of Kevin Fegan, and the poetry of Many Coe, Sue Dymoke, Jane Kinnimont and Andre Mangeot. The last two years Dream Catcher poets have been shortlisted for the prestigious Forward Prize for Poetry in the category of the best single poem published in the UK. David Constantine's Submerged Site (issue 12) and Mario Susko's Conversation (issue 13) were the candidates.
