Publisher's Synopsis
In the traditional, academic methods, drawing and painting are considered two entirely different things: drawing is the preliminary stage and painting the completion of a work. In classical painting, a preliminary drawing is made, transferred, painted over and ennobled with oil on canvas until the preliminary drawing disappears under the color and makes way for the painted, the "proper" picture. And, therefore, we learn to paint pictures using this separation whether we like it or not. But, what would happen if we didn't separate drawing and painting, but considered pictures as a combination of both? The answer is that we would be able to do a lot more. This book is therefore neither "only" a book about drawing nor one dealing exclusively with painting, because the best illustrations are created by using both equally. With this fun, educational title, the reader can learn both together easily and creatively with incredible results. Drawing and Painting make Drainting!
