Richard had lost both his parents when a drunk t-boned their car. He was still in the process of sorting out their affairs when his dog and long time companion passed away in her sleep.
A sudden, mysterious storm swept upon Richard as he patted down the last or the dirt covering Shadow's grave. In his haste he stumbled through a shimmering blue haze, and found himself in a totally new world - a land where everyone possesses some degree of magic. Although he alone is void of such powers, he is totally immune to their influences, and uncontrollably repels magical effects back onto the sender, amplified multiple times over. To Richard's bewilderment, his lack of magic has garnished him the reputation of being a powerful wizard to the people of this domain. A distinction that gets him recruited by a king into tracking down a fire breathing dragon, and bringing back its head!
