Publisher's Synopsis
Everyone has a story and this is ours -- two kids from Philly, married over 50 years. Tom and I wrote this memoir as a tribute and gift to those we love. I had always thought how wonderful it would have been if my Italian-born grandparentscould have had an opportunity to pass down to us how they felt when they left their family in Italy to start a brand new life in America, never to see their families and friends again. How did Rose feel when her ship sailed by the Statue of Liberty in 1903? Her 13-year-old brother Al was sent with her. What emotions they must have felt in their hearts. They never saw their mother and father again! Tom's Irish maternal grandparents, Sarah Cassidy and Frank Agnew, also sailed from Northern Ireland to America in the early 1900's. So, forward over 100 years later and our dream to write our story has become a reality!
