When Dorothy got her feelings back, they were still falling, but not so fast. The hood of an off-road vehicle captures the air like a parachute or an umbrella in the wind and keeps them in their state so that they float down with a smooth motion, which is not unbearable. The worst thing is that they are afraid of reaching the bottom of this great crack in the earth and naturally worried that sudden death will catch them at any moment.
