Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz, When Dorothy regained her senses, they were still falling, but not quite as fast. The roof of the buggy trapped the air like a parachute or a breeze-filled umbrella, and held them to float downward with a smooth motion that wasn't very unpleasant to bear. The worst thing was their terror of reaching the bottom of this great crack in the earth, and the natural fear that a sudden death was about to take hold of them at any moment.
