Publisher's Synopsis
The Holloway women are not like everyone else on Pine Cove Island. They each possess a special gift, and just like her grandmother, Emma Holloway has the ability to bake emotions into her delectable sweet treats. When her grandmother dies, Emma inherits her quirky house, cupcake shop, and all the debt that comes with both. With foreclosures looming, Emma is determined to make huge sales at the annual summer festival in order to pay her debts and keep her beloved home and business. But when the swoon-worthy Hunter Kane breezes into Fairy Cakes, Emma unknowingly gives him a Sweet Success cupcake, guaranteed to bring a person success in business. She's furious when she learns that he's the owner of the brand new café and bakery opening across the street, and to make matters worse, the town committee decides to split the summer festival contract between Emma and Hunter, forcing them to work together. Spending time with her new nemesis isn't quite as terrible as Emma hoped it would be, and it doesn't take too long for Emma to understand that the thin line between love and hate is more than just a clichéd expression. In an attempt to deny her growing feelings, Emma teams up with her delightfully sassy (and also gifted) cousin, Juliette, to create the perfect spell to make Hunter leave town forever. However, magic can be as unpredictable as the oh-so traitorous heart, and in a humorous turn of events Hunter and Emma are brought together to find the sweetness that was always there.
