Publisher's Synopsis

Mike Donnelly, a hard as nails retired intelligence officer, stops on the planet Lava for a few days of relaxation. He sits in on a hand of poker with the local movers and shakers, and meets an old acquaintance, Champ Summers. Summers has an errand he needs Mike to complete. Mike reluctantly agrees to pick up a package. The following day when he arrives at the shuttle base, he discovers the package is three children, Greg, Peter, and Christie. The local sheriff, Henry McCoy, decides that Mike should look after the children, much to his chagrin. When Mike tries to explain he has no place to keep the children, McCoy directs him to the former home of Champ Summers. As time passes, Mike discovers the rumors about the building being haunted are true. Night after night, he witnesses strange phenomenon that can't be explained. What's even more perplexing is the children can actually communicate with the spirits. Mike discovers the children are from another universe and that explains their unique abilities. Now, Mike must complete his ultimate quest and put aside the ghosts of his past to deal with the spirits living in the house.
