Publisher's Synopsis

This nonfiction book traces the childhood dreams of former Navy SEAL Marc Lonergan and the secret island world he created as a young boy. This is a story about a young man's dreams becoming the reality of an adult. Starting at the age of ten, Marc played on an island in the forest behind his house and imagined himself as both a warrior and an explorer. He ultimately grows up to be a Navy SEAL/Sniper, and also travels the world on an expedition with one of our generation's greatest sea captains, Sir Peter Blake. It is an epic quest to document the pulse points of the planet's health in Antarctica and the Amazon for National Geographic Channel and The Discovery Channel. Following the tragic death of Sir Peter by pirates in the Amazon, Marc first works with the family of Jacques Yves Cousteau, as a mentor to his youngest son, then return to the world of combat with a classified government project. He risks his life to save innocent men, women, children; as well as his fellow warfighters on the streets of Baghdad, Iraq. To do this he battles elements of what has become current day ISIS, and ultimately defeat the enemy that hunts the ones he has sworn to protect. During his adventures, he finds the purpose of his life as that of a protector. His greatest challenge is finding redemption for the loss of those he felt he could have saved along his journey.
