Lo dicono di Siena: dopo avere°scialacquato il suo patrimonio andò con l' esercito di Siena ad Arezzo in aiuto de' Fiorentini; e tornandosene indietro con quello, assaliti da un agguato degli Aretini alla Pieve del Toppo, vi perirono assai di loro (cf. Vill., VII, Lano, affer mano, si sarebbe potuto facilmente ritrarre in sicuro, ma come disperato desiderò meglio morire che vivere nella miseria, e gettatosi tra i nemici si fece uccidere; Inf., X111, 120.
