Publisher's Synopsis

There are people who subconsciously yearn for a life suffused with spirituality. Too often, the constraints imposed by the realities of day-to-day living thwart this impulse. This book is an autobiographical memoir describing the experiences of someone who managed to realize his dream of becoming a rabbi. Truth to tell, I was not even remotely aware of this desire until I was sixty years of age. As a high schooler I'd elected to make a career in engineering, and succeeded in doing so. I started out as a draftsman (at the munificent salary of $24 per week), and moved up to team leader. I then switched over to academe, and moved up through the hierarchy of professorial ranks-ending up as dean of engineering at Widener University. In 1980, ensconced in my black leather swivel chair, and idly gazing out at the campus adorned in springtime greenery, a dream angel slumbering peacefully deep within the recesses of my subconscious suddenly surfaced: "Hey you! Enough is enough! You're bored doing the same old same old; time to move on!" Roused out of my reverie, I harkened to the 'call'. This book is the story of my metamorphosis from engineer to rabbi, a spiritually fulfilling transmutation for which I'll be eternally grateful.
