This work deals specifically with the direct-seeded rice culture practised in different parts of the world, and its problems and prospects. Information is given on the production technology available for raising productivity of direct-seeded rice and direct-seeded rice based cropping systems both under upland and lowland/deep water situations, including varietal improvement, tillage and land preparation, method and time of sowing, nutrient, weed and water management, along with the economics of direct-seeded rice culture.
