English Summary: The Monschau Land came only in the late Middle Ages 1435 as an office to the Duchy of Julich. As a regional unit, it had emerged from a Carolingian forestry district in the northern Eifel, with its headquarters in Konzen (now district of Monschau). The rural legal sources from this period, from the 13th to the 18th century, gathered in this volume, reflect a more closed territorial development based on forestry and ridge law compared with the lowland farming areas. Separate legal districts of nobility are largely missing. The source texts make it possible to reconstruct the clearing and settlement areas that are still visible in the surrounding forest. German Description: Das Monschauer Land kam erst im Spatmittelalter 1435 als Amt an das Herzogtum Julich. Als Gebietseinheit war es aus einem karolingischen Forstbezirk in der Nordeifel mit Sitz in Konzen (heute Stadtteil von Monschau) hervorgegangen. Die aus diesem Umkreis in diesem Band versammelten landlichen Rechtsquellen vom 13. bis zum 18. Jahrhundert spiegeln im Vergleich mit den Ackerbaugebieten des Niederrheins eine starker geschlossene territoriale Entwicklung auf der Grundlage des Forst- und Roderechts. Gesonderte Rechtsbezirke von Adelsherrschaften fehlen weitgehend. Die Quellentexte machen eine Rekonstruktion der Rodungs- und Siedlungsraume moglich, die sich im umgebenden Wald bis heute abzeichnen.
