Publisher's Synopsis

The study is devoted to the history of Moab with special emphasis on its relations to Israel and to the Neo-Assyrian Empire under the rulers Tiglatpileser III to Assurbanipal. Apart from many ancient texts analysed for the first time to highlight Moab's changing historical situation, the study also contains editions of cuneiform texts (collated by the author) relating to Moab as a Neo-Assyrian vassal. To contextualize the evolution of Moab its affiliation with Aramaic nomads and Sutu beduins is outlined as well.
