Die dienstliche Stellung des Wolfgang Lazius (geb. 1504 in Wien 1 1565) als Bibliothekars und Historiographen Ferdi uaud I. Verschaffte ihm auch einige Kenntniss siebenb. Inschriften, die er in seinem Comment. Reipubl. Rom._ in caeteris provinciis bello acquisitis constitutae, libri XII. (gedr. Antwerp. 1698. Fol.) und in Tabula geographica Pannoniae, Daciae etc. (in A. Ortelii Theatro orbis terrarum. Antwerp. 1573. Fol.) mittheilte, nach Orel li's Urtheil ein Schriftsteller, dessen Bef�higung nicht gr�sser war, als seine Zuverl�ssigkeit und der u. A. Der erste ist, der die n�m lichen siebenb�rgischen Inschriften an zwei und mehreren Orten in verschieden schlechter Ueberlieferuug zum Abdruck bringt. Carl Clusius (geb. 1526 zu Arras in Frankreich, Jurist und Arzt, viel gereist, seit 1573 Inspector des botanischen Gartens in Wien, 1' 1609 in Frankfurt a. M. Gelangte wahrscheinlich, w�h rend seines Aufenthaltes in Wien, in den Besitz von Abschriften r�misch-dacischer Inschriften aus Siebenb�rgen, welche sp�ter in Gruter's H�nde kamen und von diesem in seinem grossen In schriftenwerke vielfach angef�hrt werden.
