Publisher's Synopsis
The loan has not yet been thoroughly examined in the comparative law literature. However, a look at the exhibition practice of museums at home and abroad, where art treasures are sometimes of inestimable value, shows that greater attention is entirely appropriate. The present work closes this gap: It systematically provides the foundations of the loan, the resulting obligations as well as the liability of the lending parties in the French, English and German legal system. In this interest, the author examines and evaluates the standard lending agreements of the most important museums in France, England and Germany, so this work not only makes a valuable contribution to comparative science, but is also a practical guide for the future loan practice of museums.
