Das Gedicht gliedert sich: 2 6 (4+ 2) 6 (2 +4) 4 4 6 6 2. Die zwei Verse am Anfang und Schlu� enthalten Anrede und Wunsch; die mittleren z�hlen die mannigfaltigen Bestrebungen der Menschen auf nach Ehre (griechischer und r�mischer, idealer und mate rieller), nach Grundbesitz (gro�em und ererbtem kleinem), nach Reichtum, behaglichem Genu�, Krieg und Jagd, Kunst und Wissenschaft.
