Publisher's Synopsis
This dictionary has a total wordlist of about 5,000 main words, and subsidiary words and expressions derived from them. All the words and expressions are defined in simple terms, and examples are given of how each word is used in context.;The vocabulary covers a wide range of applications - not just computing, but also hardware, peripherals, desk-top publishing, graphics, telecommunications, computer-based media and television.;The definitions are given in simple English, using only about 500 words in addition to the words already listed in the dictionary. This makes it useful for students whose technical knowledge is limited, or whose first language is not English. Throughout the text encyclopaedic comments are given to expand on the definitions and short quotations from computer journals and magazines show that the words are used in "real life" contexts.;The supplement section gives notes on ASCII, EBCDIC codes, SI units, IEEE-488 bus signals, decimal conversion tables, logic functions, resistor colouring charts, and much more.
