As Mortimer Hanley regains consciousness he realises he has survived the crash landing of the space craft on which he is a crew member. He soon realises that he is the only survivor. Once he has established there is air to breathe outside the craft he sets about exploring his surroundings. Diary of a Distant Star is the diary compiled by the modern day Robinson Crusoe as he explores the area around the crash site and encounters alien plant and animal life, most of which is hostile to the outsider, all except for the two strange alien creatures who befriend him. Having set off his personal tracking device shortly before the stricken space craft explodes Hanley knows distress signals will be sent back to earth, but will help arrive in time to rescue him from this hostile planet?
