Publisher's Synopsis
Story one, Checkmate: Invited into a game versus time by her mother, Elizabeth races against planned attacks on notable army targets. Using a known foe as unlikely allies, Elizabeth travels to Gomstring for a much needed confrontation. With Jeffery safe, her home and self the target of scrutiny of Brick Haven residents. Elizabeth relishes the conflict she now faces in an overall foreign land.
Story two, Racheal Ellis: Elizabeth stumbles onto a repeat offender of assault and murder, with a bonus twist, that has been striking the three lake side cities. Traveling one to the next, the murders seem to follow her from Brick Haven, Fraung, to Lake Side. Teamed with Constable Kellogg of Lake Side, they work the murders to find the suspect and his accomplice to be more than they had imagined.
