Publisher's Synopsis
Melody Maxwell is smart, beautiful and successful, but has no luck with men. After a string of failed relationships, she meets Darien Stiles--a handsome and lucrative business man. She thinks she's finally met Mr. Right, but has jumped out of the frying pan and straight into the fire. Darien is married, but still indulges in extramarital affairs. Not to mention the fact that he is a closet criminal. Weary of his inconsistent behavior, Melody decides to kick him to the curb.
Melody is turned off to men when she meets Luke Bryant on an early morning jog out on the beach. She settles on befriending him at first, but Luke steals her heart. He is the perfect guy and he loves her, but there is trouble brewing. Clarke Vale--a very rich and powerful man who just moves to town--also has his eyes Melody, and there is nothing he won't do to have her.
When Luke's family falls on hard times, Clarke offers to help--providing Luke ends the relationship with Melody. Desperate, Luke takes the offer and breaks Melody's heart--leaving her to pick up the pieces. In her vulnerability, Clarke steps in and offers comfort. He manages to win Melody's trust, and gets her exactly where he wants her. However, what Melody doesn't realize is that Darien Stiles is an angel compared to Clarke Vale.
