"Son," the president said. "What in the name of Moses is going on in this country?"
Weigand, his pipe clenched tightly between his teeth, said, "Mr. President, it's a Depression."
"A Depression?"
"Yes, sir."
"What is a Depression?"
"Well sir, I've been reading up on it. We haven't had one since 1939. Before our time, of course. What usually happens is that businesses fold, millions of people lose their jobs and go on relief--"
"All right, I think I get the idea. But how do you get rid of them?"
Weigand had been afraid he was going to ask that. "That's a good question..."
