Publisher's Synopsis
Where do we go from here? As usual we have no idea. Terrian Journals begins in a lively crowd on New Year's Eve in Times Square and carries on to explore nation-states ridding themselves of military dictatorships. Unfortunately, the story seems to be coming full circle back to dictatorial times in this volume of Departure Journals. Democracy seems to be departing from lands with no history of military dictatorships. Terrian Journals is now chronicling the disappearance of democracy and its essential civil, human, and legal rights? Will the adventures, learning, careful thinking, convention-challenging, and non-standard-issue lifestyle involved in living as a newcomer soon be declared threats to nation-state security? Not if we can help it. The adventure continues through rough and calm seas off the coasts of Le Havre and Stavanger to a very challenging living as a newcomer experience on Europe's largest island. Second time lucky? We're descending from Dyingtown to Deadville before returning to a more hospitable milieu.
