When Dara McGill takes a break from her wedding planner obligations, she decides that a trip to visit her cousin, Heather, in Colorado is a perfect way to send her time. She is looking forward to a relaxing week away, and the beginning of the trip delivers her wishes. However, the longer she stays in Colorado, the more peculiar bits of Heather's past seep out. On a horseback ride out in the mountains, Heather reveals that she has been seeing her former husband, Daniel, in her dreams. She is disturbed by this because she is now married to Nate Paulson. Because Dara has a spiritual gift, she is able to tap into Daniel's intentions, and she discovers that his death might not have been an accident as Heather was led to believe. Dara finds out that Daniel has a shameful secret, and that he has been trying to communicate this to Heather so that he can now rest in peace. In the midst of this discovery, Heather's current husband is found dead on a rock climbing expedition that he was hired to lead. Heather is devastated, and can't figure out why he was murdered. But with Dara's gift, and with a synchronistic encounter, she is able to piece together many parts of the elaborate puzzle. It is a vacation to remember for both Dara and Heather.
