Publisher's Synopsis
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. While history often paints the Middle Ages as a time of darkness and lack of progress and the predecessor of the great period of enlightenment and change, the Medieval period was in fact the genesis of many inventions used or improved on in modern times.
This book looks at inventions as as whole, the history of science and technology during the Middle Ages, and specific inventions and innovations that are attributed to those times, including the tidal mill form of water mill, the hourglass, the mechanical clock, eyeglasses, and others.
Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
