Publisher's Synopsis
Dao De Jing: A Complete Commentary, by Mr. Liu Zhankui, a master of contemporary oriental wisdom and a spiritual practitioner of body-and-mind cultivation who has realized Dao, is one of the most comprehensive, thorough and wisdom interpretations of the Dao De Jing. This commentary is an encyclopedia to guide the readers on how to explore the nature and universe, how to understand the heaven, earth and all things, how to lift the biggest confusion about birth, aging, illness and death in life, and how to establish harmonious social relationships and a healthy lifestyle. Book Six translated and expounded Chapter 13-20 of the original 81-chapter text of Dao De Jing. In this book, the author discussed the causes of the dualism phenomenon and solutions regarding "honor" and "disgrace" as well as "treasure life" and "worry about misfortune." It is followed by explanations of how to take the void stillness noumenon of Dao as one's reference standard to guide life and judge all things. The author also introduced the ability and wisdom levels of sages and saints when they deal with things. Master Liu emphasized that the best way to understand the nature and universe as well as to apply the laws of nature to benefit mankind is to become one with the Void and return to the pure Stillness. Laozi told us: a person who truly realized Dao is one who can use his pristine nature (true self) to reflect everything and react on everything, and everyone is born with such pristine wisdom. The reason why human society slipped from ancient wisdom civilization society to current secular civilization society is because people act against Dao and deviate from De. In order to fix all this, it is the only way that man manifests his simple and unadorned nature and follows the laws of social development to govern the country and make policies. The author restored Laozi's original contents that have been misinterpreted for thousands of years. He also clarified that the progress of human society should not be evaluated simply by the advancement level of its production tools. Instead, it should be measured with the level of man's wisdom capability to adapt himself to his living environments.
