Colin Grainger's ex-wife Moira left him not because she no longer loved him, but because she was fed up with scraping a living in poky bedsits. Now a high-flying policewoman, happily involved with a fellow officer, she still sees Colin from time to time. Colin calls Moira because he has unwittingly stumbled across a major fraud on the internet, and he is convinced he knows the perpetrator, Charlie Radcliffe.
