Publisher's Synopsis
Sir John de Wolfe is summoned to examine the body of a canon. Suicide is suspected, but there is more to this than meets the eye. When a local lord is killed, John suspects the cases are linked. As always, he is hampered by the sheriff Sir Richard de Revelle, but his reasons for delay may be more serious this time than petty vengeance.
